Craft #108-Day 128-Scented Scrub

I grabbed a large mixing bowl, a ladle, measuring cup, Epsom salt, sea salt, and baking soda. I sat everything down on our kitchen table and called Carter into the kitchen. His eyes light up as he jumped onto a kitchen chair, ready to work.

First we added the crystallized and colored Epsom salt to the mixing bowl. Then Carter dumped in the sea salt and baking soda. Instead of using the spoon, he started mixing it all together with his hands! I added just a couple drops of peppermint essential oil. Once mixed in Carter started to fill the little jam jar full of the scented scrub.

I tied a plaid ribbon around the lid and labeled the lid using a sharpie. My sister just made me some scented scrub for Christmas...so this will be a great gift for her!

Craft #107-Day 127-Baby-Chick Beanbags

This would be a great addition to an Easter egg hunt. After the bean bags are found, you could play bean bag toss!

I didn't have yellow felt or fabric to use, however I did have a pretty light brown piece of fabric that would work. Referencing the baby chick template in the book; I cut out the 2 pieces of fabric needed. I hand stitched the two pieces together, leaving an opening.

Carter helped fill the shape with dry beans. Once filled, I stitched the opening closed. Carter tried out the pinking shears, using them to trim along the edges. Carter taped on the orange beak and I attached the felt wings using the hot glue gun. I used black marker to dot on the eyes.

I cut out strips of green streamers for the egg grass. We had an egg shaped container to use as the baby-chicks home. Carter filled the container with green streamers and placed the baby chick inside. We now have a new game to play...Carter calls it "chicken", ha, ha!

Craft #106-Day 126-Crepe-Paper Bunnies

I absolutely love this party favor idea! A trinket/toy is wrapped up in a ball of crepe paper, made to look like a bunny face. Then guests unwind the crepe paper to reveal the prize!

We decided to wrap a toy ball in blue crepe paper. Carter helped wrap the strips of paper around the ball and I used the hot glue gun to glue down the ends of the crepe paper. I cut out the ears and Carter helped tape them onto the top of the ball. I drew on the lashes with a black sharpie. For the nose I cut out a small oval from a piece of black crepe paper and glued it on.

Carter picked out the cupcake liners he wanted to use. I cut away the center of the liner so the bunny head would fit inside. I also cut out a little triangular piece from a cupcake liner for the bunny's collar. We decided to add some glitter as well. Carter happily shook the glitter onto the crepe-paper bunny.

I can't wait to use this idea!

Craft #105-Day 125-Button Bobby Pins

Carter was eager to start looking through the button tin. He kept holding up one button in each hand and saying, "This one...or this one?" This was entertaining just by itself for quite awhile!

Using crayons, we colored pictures on our tags to use as a place to put our bobby pins. Once we had buttons picked out for each bobby pin and the tags were decorated; I used a hot glue gun to attach the buttons. We chose two red buttons that Carter turned into ladybugs, by marking black dots all over them.

I cut a slit in the middle of each tag with fun pinking shears. Carter helped attach the bobby pins through the slits, onto the tags. These make perfect gifts for his cousins!

Craft #104-Day 125-Custom Candy Bags

Using one of our extra Christmas Cards, a resealable plastic bag from a present I received, a scrap piece of paper and part of a cardboard box...we were ready to start our project without having to leave the house.
Woo-hoo!

I brought out my collection of stamps and ink pads. Carter started stamping away onto the paper. He helped tape the piece of paper onto the cardboard to make our tag. Once we added the candy necklaces into the bag, we folded and taped the tag onto the top. I cut out his picture from our card and we taped it onto the tag.

In just a few simple steps we have a super cute treat package!

Craft #103-Day 123-Folded Hearts

A fun DIY valentine for the kiddos to make. Again, Carter rummaged through our bag of various paper scraps and picked out a red, orange and white stripped piece of tissue paper.

I cut out a heart from the tissue paper and he happily started drawing a picture. I gave him a yellow and a red marker to use and he only used the yellow one! It is his favorite color..... We taped a little heart next to his picture and added a spiderman sticker. We folded the heart into a tiny envelope and sealed it using another spiderman sticker.

Maybe we will give this to Grandma C!

Craft #102-Day 123-Candy Wrappers

I am so very looking forward to what this new year has to bring. This last year was filled with loss as well as amazing moments. I have to believe everything happens for a reason. This crafting adventure has not only been a benefit for my Son...it has also given me something to work towards as well. The older I get the more I find happiness in always having a project. Something I have happily inherited from my Dad.

So 2015, here we go....

Of course, being a sweets fanatic...I had candy already to use for this project. We had a red and white lollipop to decorate first. Carter searched through our large bag of paper scraps. He picked out a square of dark blue glittery piece of cardstock to tape the lollipop to and added a sticker as well. We moved onto decorating a chocolate bar by wrapping pink construction paper around it with twine. Carter added stickers galore and a large red paper heart. Lastly, we wrapped a row of paper hearts around 2 packages of smarties, taped it in place and added ribbons to the ends.

A fun decorating project to give as gifts!
